Good to know.
Everything you might want to ask before two weeks in Italy. If your question isn’t here, we’d love to hear it.
The journeys
How long is each journey?
Every Signature Journey is 14 nights, divided between two regions, so you have time to settle in rather than rush through.
How many guests travel together?
Only 10 to 12 guests per departure. Small by design, so every guest gets real attention and the group never feels like a crowd.
When are the 2027 departures?
Tuscany & Campania in April, Campania & Puglia in June, and Tuscany & Veneto in September 2027. See the journeys.
What is included?
Accommodation in hand-picked estates, breakfast daily, 3 hosted dinners, 2 regional lunches, one local experience each week (a tasting, a class, a visit, even yoga, different in every place), a full-day excursion in every region, weekly Italian lessons, a personal concierge and pre-departure guidance. See everything included.
Can children travel with us?
Yes. Minors are welcome when accompanied by a parent or guardian for the full journey.
Can you accommodate dietary needs or mobility concerns?
Absolutely. Let us know when you book and we’ll arrange accordingly with our properties and partners.
Can you plan a private journey for my family or group?
Yes. We design private and bespoke journeys with the same care as our signature departures. Learn more.
Booking & payments
How is pricing structured?
Our rates are per person, based on double occupancy. A single supplement is available on request.
What are the payment and deposit terms?
A 10% deposit secures your place. The balance is due 90 days before departure. We walk you through it personally when you book.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please let us know in writing. Fees are calculated from the date we receive your notice: a $100 minimum fee up to one month after you book; 25% per person up to 60 days before departure; 50% from 59 to 15 days before departure; 100% within 14 days of departure.
This policy covers the land journey only. Airlines have their own policies. We strongly recommend travel insurance to protect your journey.
Is airfare included?
No. To give our travelers greater flexibility, our journeys do not include airfare. You can use your own miles and upgrades, and choose the cabin and luggage options you prefer. You are welcome to purchase airfare from your preferred provider.
If you would like help purchasing airfare or have questions about flight options, just contact us. We are here to make your travel as seamless and enjoyable as possible.
What is the city tax?
The European tourist tax, also called “city tax,” is a fee charged per person, per night. It is paid locally, usually at check-out from your accommodation, and it supports local infrastructure, tourism, the environment and cultural heritage.
In 2026, city tax in Italy ranges from about €4 to €12 per night, depending on the accommodation’s rating and the town. For a 4-star property it is typically €7 to €9 per night. It is not included in the journey price, so be prepared to pay it in person when you check out.
Do you offer travel protection?
Yes, we can arrange travel protection through Allianz Global Assistance. ItalDimora is a referral partner and does not sell or advise on insurance; plan terms, exclusions and eligibility apply.
Travel details
Do I need a visa or a travel authorization?
U.S. citizens do not need a visa for stays in Italy of up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Europe is changing its entry rules, though, so here is what to know:
Your passport. It must be valid for at least three months after the day you leave Europe and must have been issued within the last 10 years. We recommend at least six months of validity.
EES, the new Entry/Exit System. Since April 2026, travelers from outside the EU are registered at the border with fingerprints and a photo the first time they enter. It is free and happens at passport control, so allow a little extra time at the airport.
ETIAS, Europe’s version of the U.S. ESTA. Europe is introducing a short online travel authorization for visa-free travelers, including Americans. It is not required yet and is now expected to start in 2027, followed by a transition period. Once it is live, you apply online before your trip (the fee is €20 and approval is valid for three years). Apply only on the official EU website and beware of look-alike sites that charge extra.
Rules can change, so we confirm exactly what you need, and when, in the document checklist we send well before departure.
How will I get around?
You have options, and you choose how to experience each place. If you love the freedom to discover on your own, we can arrange transportation for you to rent and share our favorite suggestions of where to go. If you prefer to sit back and enjoy the view, we can organize a private driver for your transfers and excursions.
What will the weather be like?
It depends on your month and region. Before you leave, we send a packing and weather guide written for your exact journey.
